New York: Random House, 1944. 8vo. 60 colored woodcut illustrations designed by Rogers. Printed in Frederic Goudy's Deepdene Italic type. Publisher's cloth, covers lettered and stamped in silver. Without the slipcase. One of five hundred copies of Rogers's Euclid printed for Random House at the Press of A. Colish. Bruce Rogers was an American typographer, type designer, and book designer. He preferred working with serif typefaces, including Bell and Montaigne (which he invented), and his greatest achievement in typography was the serif typeface Centaur. At the age of 74, Rogers created this limited edition of 500 copies of Euclid's Book I with sixty beautiful, colorful woodcut diagrams. The preface contains an excerpt from an essay by writer Paul Valéry which discusses the contributions of the ancient Greeks to geometry. Sidney J. Walter Herries (or Harris) was a pamphleteer who participated in the first Darien "adventure." Upon his return to England, he was offered inducements by English politicians to write a book that would ruin the reputation of the members of the Darien Company. His book was "Declared by a royal proclamation to be a 'false, scandalous, and traitorous libel'."

This book, attributed to Ridpath, is an answer to Herries's book, and an attack on English politicians. Ridpath was a Scottish journalist who wrote and supported Whig interests against the Tories.

This suite of prints was supposedly meant to accompany 175 copies of Harrison's book, but far fewer suites of the prints appear to have been printed. All the prints are bright and fine. New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1927 1st ed/6th printing Dec 1927, long inscription on the first title page in author's handwriting and signed by Author and Biller Houser to a Helen Lord, in the inscription gives a hint to who these people were, they were fellow teachers at an all male prep school named The Lawerenceville School in NJ, were Mr Wilder taught FRENCH, and had close ties to Princeton. BOOK: is very clean and the sections(signatures) are still very well bound,but the webbing between them is showing at some places, still very secure and held together tightly,other than that appears to be better than the Good+ I rate it.. included is a 9th printing,with its dustjacket which has chips and darken spine,maybe use it to protect the good one.
