First American Edition (first printing), published in October 1908. 8vo. 302pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine and upper board and with a gilt-stamped rule. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Tissue-protected frontispiece illustration by G[raham] R[oberston], the tissue a little spotted. Some light marking and staining to the boards and a little wear to the cloth at the head and base of the backstrip. A lengthy and unsightly crease to the front free endpaper alongside a boldly inked former owner name. Binding just a little tender at pp. 88/89. Some very occasional light staining to five or six leaves, almost entirely confined to the margins. A really crisp and bright copy of a very scarce and desirable book; lacking the fugitive dust wrapper.. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket.
