Original grey green cloth decorated in blindstamp and with gilt design front cover; spine lettered in gilt "Wolfert's Roost / Irving". First U.S. edition, third issue with publisher's address at 10 Park Place, 12 pp. of ads at rear dated "10 Park Place, Feby., 1855". Engraved frontis and engraved first title page with tissue guard. 383 pp. A tight example, moderate rubbing to the tips and spien with spine lettering dulled; 1855 ownership signature and "Albany, N.Y." top corner of front pastedown. Offsetting to the corners of the frontis and engraved, title with corresponding stain to the tissue guard.
