Description:
Toronto: Velvet Fist, 1970-72. Twelve tabloid issues of 8pp each. Horizontal folds (as issued); light wear; Very Good. Bi-monthly publication of the Toronto Women's Caucus, which emerged as a feminist wing of the League for Socialist Action and the Young Socialists' Alliance in 1970. Despite a tiny circulation, Velvet Fist was notable for its advocacy of direct mass actions and its focus on such divisive issues as queer liberation and abortion. This appears to be the complete run; OCLC notes no holdings for issues past Vol 2, no. 3. Uncommon in the trade; OCLC notes about a dozen institutional holdings, of which 8 in the U.S.
