Spine fairly worn, and volume number especially worn; but beautiful gold gilt pattern still discernible. Leather does have a very dried feel, and the semblance of an outer crack to the tail of the hinge.

Binding: Good, if a little tight, no discernible crack or breaks to the text block.

Text: Good, no discernible notes, signatures or annotation in front or main body of volume, but appears to have some water damage on the very last end paper with a pencil note. Decorative red ink stain to outer edges of text block.

Overall: A good volume with age taken into account- published just nine years after Alexander Popes death in 1744 and the same year that the Bristish Museum was established in London.

Volume V, Dunciad in Four books: 271 pages.
