New York: Harper & Bros, 1849. These are American editions of books originally published in England in 1837 and 1848. Nicely bound with leather spines and faux leather covered corners. 7 1/4 by 5 inches. Very good condition (edgewear, one bumped corner, and browning of page edges. Pages are clean, both volumes tight. See scans.) Volume I contains a 324-page sketch of Lamb's life, interwoven with his letters. The rest of the first volume is devoted to Lamb's poetry and the first part of the essays, 603 pages in all. Volume II (dated 1847 but probably should be 1849) is devoted primarily to the rest of Lamb's essays, additional letters, and tributes from admirers and friends, 637 pages in all.. Hard Cover.
