In WWII he had been a colonel in Patton's Third Army. He was an American statesman, industrialist and civil rights activist. He had been an advisor to John F. Kennedy's presidential campaign. Also laid in is a typed note, in FINE condition, from the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, John J. Bailey, stating "The President has personally autographed this copy for you."
