Prescott was son of the Revolutionary War colonel, William Prescott who commanded the patriots at the Battle of Bunker Hill - "Do not fire until you see the whites of their eyes", and father of noted American historian William H. Prescott. Bookplate is in the William Augustus Brewer Bookplate Collection at the University of Delaware. Additional bookplate "E Libris Franklin Dexter" on verso of endpapers. Gilt ornamented sheepskin with gilt edge design, red and black spine labels. Numerical label missing on volume four, some wear at the tips, light scuffing. Near fine internally, clean, bright. .
