A complete sixteen volume set of The Works of Thomas De Quincey including all his contributions to periodical literature and Confessions of an English Opium-Eater. The first volume (1878) contains Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, volume ii (1862) contains Recollections of the Lakes and the Lake Poets, volume iii (1871) contains Last Days of Immanuel Kant and The Spanish Military Nun, volume iv (1863) contains The English Mail coach and other writings, volume v (1863) contains Dr Samuel Parr or Whiggism in relations to Literature and other writings. Volume vi (1863) contains Richard Bentley and other writings, volume vii (1880) contains Protestantism and other essays, volume viii (1863) contains Leaders in Literature, volume ix (1880) contains The Caesars, volume x (1863) contains Style and Rhetoric and other papers. Volume xi (1880) contains Coleridge and Opium-Eating, volume xii (1863) Speculations Literary and Philosophic, volume xiii (1863) Logic of Political Economy and other papers, volume xiv (1862) contains Autobiographic Sketches, volume xv (1880) contains Biographies and volume xvi (1861) contains Suspiria de Profundis. With illustrations to volume i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, viii, ix, x, xv and xvi. One plate to volume i, 5 to volume ii, 1 to volume iii, 1 to volume iv, 1 to volume v, 1 to vi, 1 to viii, 1 to ix, 1 to xv and a vignette title page to volume xvi. Collated, complete. The volumes are reprints, being the fourth edition as stated in the first volume. Thomas De Quincey was an English writer, essayist and literary critic. The volumes are uniformly bound by Root & Son in half calf with marbled boards. Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, very smart with some light marks to the boards and spine. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good Indeed

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
