London: Printed For Cadell and Davies; et al..., 1817. Robertson's Works; to which is prefixed an account of his life and his writings. Bound in full leather bindings. Gilded spines with raised hubs. Dual ruled framing to the covers. Marbled edges and end papers. Printed on quality paper with wide margins. 8.5 inches tall. These take up a little over 12 inches of shelf space. In excellent condition. The hinges are all strongly attached and held extra firm by underlying cords, some starting. Leather still supple, some general rubs/wear. An early bookplate. Printed on quality paper that is near free of any trace of foxing. Complete in 12 volumes. Bound in the highest quality, full leather bindings. Robertson's complete works: History of Scotland 1542-1603 (1759), History of Charles V (1769), History of America (1777) and The Knowledge which the Ancients had of India (1791). He is most famous for his History of Charles V. Robertson is a famous historian, and an important part of any collection. This set would make an excellent gift and/or addition to any fine library.
