About This Item

PHILADELPHIA: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1902 BEAUTIFUL DARK RED COVER, GOLD PRINT AND DESIGN SPINE. CLEAN AND TIGHT WITH NO INTERNAL MARKINGS, THICK PAGES, COLORFUL ARTWORK ON TITLE PAGE. NO DATE LISTED, CIRCA EARLY 1900. TWO COLOR PLATES INSIDE. The Merry Wives of Windsor is a comedy by William Shakespeare, first published in 1602, though believed to have been written prior to 1597. The Windsor of the play's title is a reference to Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England, and though nominally set in the reign of Henry IV, the play makes no pretence to exist outside contemporary Elizabethan era English middle class life. All's Well That Ends Well is a play by William Shakespeare. It is believed to have been written between 1604 and 1605, and was originally published in the First Folio in 1623. Though originally the play was classified as one of Shakespeare's comedies, the play is now considered by some critics to be one of his problem plays, so named because they cannot be neatly classified as tragedy or comedy.
