1872 World Before the Deluge Figuier Science Geology Illustrated Dinosaurs
Louis Figuier was a renowned 19th-century French chemist who published an important work on geology – "La Terre avant le deluge". This work, illustrated by Edouard Riou, was one of Figuier's most successful works, gaining critical acclaim from his contemporaries for his thoughts on geological history and the origin of modern man.
This 1872 American edition was edited and translated into English by Henry William Bristow, an English geologist and naturalist, who, according to the DNB, laid "the foundations on which his successors can build, and whose services to British geology are more lasting than showy."
This book with its 235 illustrations would make an excellent addition to the library of any scholar or geology enthusiast.
