Bungay: Brightly and Childs. Poor. 1817. Hard Cover. "A New Edition, Embellished with a fine portrait of the author", Full leather boards, very worn, rubbed, all edges worn but the boards are still attached, spine has a split down the center but still bound with the textblock, black label with title intact (with split in center), underneath that, someone has pasted a red tape with the author's name and the date 1718. It looks like the front pastedown has been covered with a different marbled paper that extends over the fep about 1/2", it also appears that a second blank page has been removed, blank pages have old dampstain that extends into book somewhat, portrait page has a split at the foredge about 1". Rear gutter split and last page? (563) is pasted to the back board. Beginning at page 517, the pages are stuck together in 3 chunks of pages, a couple of them torn at the foredge, last section is browned around the edges and somewhat damaged. Occasional turned corner and mild to moderate foxing. I can provide photo's. .

Complete in volume. 32mo, 5 1/4" tall, vol. 1: 184 pages; vol. 2: 244 pages + 1 engraved frontispiece and 2 engraved additional title pages, gilt spine titles 3/4 leather over marbled boards. This small volume has a very good interior, internal binding solid, paper clean and moderately yellowed with a bit of foxing toward the endpapers still supple, exterior shelf worn and leather rubbed at the extremities, the top of the spine badly chipped, fore-corner tips worn through to boards, previous owner's bookplate and name on front endpaper.
