Rand & Avery, no. 3 Cornhill, 1856. 8vo, pp. [5], 6-328; inserted frontispiece and illustrated title page; elaborate publisher's decorative blind-stamped brown cloth showing an American eagle atop a laurel wreath, with small vignettes of George Washington and Franklin Pierce (?) beneath, the whole within an ornate floral frame; the design is repeated on the lower cover; pictorial gilt tilting on spine; near fine. A survey of the world, including meteorology, geology, and zoology. First published in 1845, this edition issued in the publisher's Cabinet Library series.
