New York: Atheneum, 1971. First Edition (1971.) Hardcover with dust jacket. Oblong 8vo with 27 pages. Ellen Raskin (1928-1984) was an American children's writer and illustrator. She won the 1979 Newbery Medal for The Westing Game, a mystery novel, and another children's mystery, Figgs & Phantoms, was a Newbery Honor Book in 1975. She also designed more than 1000 dustjackets for books including the first edition of Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time, the 1963 Newbery Medal winner. This book is in very good condition with very slight shelf wear. Small red 'o; written at top of half-title page. Interior is clean and tight. The dj is in poor condition with bumping and tearing to corners/edges, pieces missing. Tears ranging from 1/2" to 3" inchs. Shelf-wear. Writing at top of front flyleaf. Purple cloth binding, illustrated dj. Tan spine/Black text. #031200. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Poor. Illus. by Color Illustrations By Author. Oblong 8vo. Childrens Book.

Description:
Atheneum. Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket. 1971. First Edition. Hardcover. Oblong purple cloth, lettered in silver on the spine. States "First Edition". To the title page it is signed, inscribed by Raskin and she included a 4" sketch. An excellent copy of the book, very nearly fine but for a couple of long, vertical creases to the front free endpaper. Otherwise showing only minor wear. The dust jacket has a 3/8" tear to the lower, front edge, at the spine. It is otherwise also in great condition. Price of $4.95 to the front flap. ; Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall; 27 pages; Signed by Author .
