1866 Gen Randolph Marcy Thirty Years in US Army INDIANS American West Mormons
Randolph Marcy was a 19th-century United States Army officer known for his military guide for American soldiers, 'The Prairie Traveler'. In addition to this guidebook, Marcy wrote a memoir of his life which outlined his adventures in the military as well as his explorations in the American west. "Thirty Years of Army Life on the Border" describes buffalo and antelope hunting trips, influence of Mormonism on the American west, and Native American tribes – Pueblo, Comanche, Ute, etc.
This 1866 edition of Marcy's memoir includes full-page engravings throughout – views of Indians and teepees, city views, and hunting adventures.

Booker T. Washington was a famous 19th-century American civil rights activist known for his anti-slavery platform during the height of Negro lynchings in the American South. This work follows more than forty years of his life, the state of race relations, and the rise and fall of the Negro social ladder.

While many authors and political leaders, such as WEB du Bois, were highly critical of Washington's work, he still emphasized the importance of education among the black population, especially in the South, which was a realistic tactic to easing racial tensions. This book was also gives the first mention of extremist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan.
