5 Albumen stereo photographs, each mounted on yellow coloured studio board with rounded corners, with photographer's imprint & series title, one card with title label mounted on verso. 'Views Around New Orleans'-series (New Orleans in Stereoscope) and 'Views of New Orleans and Vicinity'-series.

Rare stereoscopic views of New Orleans in exceptionally good condition by Samuel Tobias Blessing (1830-1897), photographer of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, and paper prints made using the wet plate collodion process. He appears to have worked as a photographer in Alabama and Texas before settling in New Orleans in 1854. After the Civil War, Blessing concentrated on selling cartes-de-visite's and stereocards, photographic equipment, frames, and art supplies. His four-story establishment on Canal Street was one of the largest photographic studios and supply houses in the south.

All stereoviews in in beautiful condition, from a Dutch collection formed pre-1870. Cf.: M. Denton Smith & M.L. Tucker, Photography in New Orleans: The Early Years, 1840–1865. (Baton Rouge, 1982).

1901 Booker T Washington 1ed Up from Slavery American Poverty KKK Racism

"Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others."
― Booker T. Washington, Up from Slavery

Booker T. Washington was a famous 19th-century American civil rights activist known for his anti-slavery platform during the height of Negro lynchings in the American South. Born as a slave child during the American Civil War, Washington describes his difficulties and obstacles in his autobiography 'Up From Slavery'. This work follows more than forty years of his life, the state of race relations, and the rise and fall of the Negro social ladder.

While many authors and political leaders, such as WEB du Bois, were highly critical of Washington's work, he still emphasized the importance of education among the black population, especially in the South, which was a realistic tactic to easing racial tensions. This book was also gives the first mention of extremist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan.

1775 Revolutionary War MONEY 1ed Early American Banknote $2 Bill Dollars Finance
An incredibly rare and valuable 18th-century example of Revolutionary War money!
During the height of the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress needed finding a way to pay the newly found American army. In 1775, the Continental Currency was first printed to supplement income. And while the value of these notes depreciated in value throughout the war, they hold significant historical and financial value today. These notes hold a reminder of the horrors of uncontrolled inflation and provide an important view into the history of American finance.
This two-dollar note was printed in Philadelphia by Hall and Sellers in 1775 – an incredible example of first edition American money!
