James Oliver's wrote a captivating account of his experiences of the impending disaster on the ship 'The Glide' in his book 'Wreck of the Glide'. The ship struck a reef on March 21, 1831, and dragged its anchor for 8 miles until it finally wrecked on the Fijian Island Vanua Levu. This book includes descriptions of life and manners at the Fiji Islands and their peoples.
