1789, 1878 Book. Good. Hardcover. An illustrated history of 18th Century society and customs in Franceby Paul Lacroix with twenty-onecolour lithographs and three-hundred and fifty woodcuts. Third edition. Illustrations after Watteau, Vanloo, Rigaud, Boucher, Greuze, Lancret, J. Vernet, Chardin. Jeaurat, Bouchardon, Saint-Aubin, Eisen, Gravelot, Moreau, Chochin, Wille, Debucourt etc. Paul Lacroix (1806 -1884) was aFrench author and journalist. With previous owner's ink inscription to verso to front free endpaper. Condition: In a quarter morocco binding with decorative cloth boards. Externally, sound but with slight wear to extremities, slight loss to head and tail of spine and with slight evidence of past worming to front joint. Hinges slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound. Bright but with some tidemarks and occasional spotting and marks to pages. With slight marginal loss to endpapers and the occasional closed tear. Overall: GOOD.
