Some light foxing to initial and closing leaves; hinges starting. Spine has darkened, with two superficial splits in the surface of the leather near the crown; a touch of rubbing to extremities, and light soiling to cloth. One plate (no. 6) has a couple of patches where flecks of the tissue guard have adhered. With only a touch of rubbing to extremities, this is a clean and fresh copy, with beautiful illustrations relating to literature, science and the arts in eighteenth century France, in near fine condition.
