Bound in salmon paper-covered boards and gray cloth spine. The front cover has a pictorial design in several colors depicting a fairy balancing a pole with lanterns at the ends. 99 unnumbered pages. 10.75 inches tall. _____ Moderate external wear, with light soiling to the covers and very minor loss of color at the tips of the corners. Binding is firm and square. Text clean. Date on top front-free end page. The volume has illustrated endpapers; a b/w title-page vignette and 47 bright full-page color illustrations by M. T. Ross. ____ M.T. Ross, who was affectionately nicknamed "Penny", was an illustrator and comic artist in the early twentieth century. He lived in Oak Park, Illinois and had his studio in downtown Chicago. He was one of the first co-workers of Walt Disney, as well as a close friend of R.F. Outcault, with whom he developed 'Buster Brown'. M.T.
