Near fine condition, very slight over all wear, spine is slightly darkened except for two small spots near the base, which are lighter than the rest of the binding. The corner tips are slightly bumped. 128 pp. Tan cloth with grey lettering and small decorative design in red on spine and front cover. 24 full page plates on coated stock, 12 in color and 12 are pen and ink drawings with ivory colored background which also provides a slim border area. Lacks several of the tissue guards for the illustrations. Additional line drawings on half title page, title page, head pieces to introduction, acknowledgment, contents and list of illustrations pages. There are also a number of black and white tail pieces and a full page black and white illustration on page 18. Clarke's black and white illustrations are striking and the color illustrations are fanciful..

Top edge gilt. 127, (1)pp. 12 color and 12 in black and cream plates by Clarke. Many tailpieces. The plates are all clean and bright. There is a thumbprint size stain in the margin of page 52, not affecting any illustration or text. The corners and fore-edge are a little worn, but the head and tail and spine are sound and undamaged. A stunning piece of printing with illustrations by Harry Clarke. Includes twelve full color plates and eleven (of twelve) black and white plates printed on a tinted background, many other black and white illustrations throughout, most in Art Nouveau style with some transitioning to Art Deco. Full antiqued brown grained leather with deeply embossed title on the front cover as well as a faux binding clasp design, also deeply embossed. Very minor chip to the lower spine end near the front cover, good hinges, sound text block, clean pages with a gift notation and barely visible embossed name on the front free endpaper, no other markings.
