Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories

by Dr. Seuss

Condition: Near Fine

Random House, 1958. Book Condition: Used: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition, 1st Printing.

Dr. Seuss didn't just disclose 1st printing status. He made you work for it. In this case, it's rather simple - the back cover should have 14, rather than 13, titles for other Dr. Seuss books, concluding with "How the Gringo Stole Christmas." It should also, like my copy, have 295/295 on the upper right corner of the dust jacket.

The book itself is in virtually unread condition, bright, unmarked pages, solid binding, no bookplates, signature, rips, tears, etc. The book jacket is in exceptional case too. It's only defect is fraying along the edges, particularly along the top of the spine. Even then it is mild, an inevitable side effect of bumping in book cases. There is also a scarcely perceptible rip in the middle of the spine.

Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories is a picture book collection by Theodor Geisel, published under his more commonly-known pseudonym of Dr. Seuss. It was first released by Random House Books on April 12, 1958, and is written in Seuss's trademark style, using a type of meter called anapestic tetrameter.
