Boston: Houghton, Mifflin, and Company, 1884. FIRST EDITION, later printing. Lovely original Victorian full blown cloth stamped in black and gold on front cover and spine. All edges gilt. Front board a little weak. Text pages slightly age-toned. The numerous full page steel plate engravings are very clean. A study of Thackeray, Hawthorne, Dickens, Wordsworth, Miss Mitford, Barry Cornwall and others. No previous owner's names, not exlibrary. Overall a VERY GOOD book. A good gift. UncleAndy. Full Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover.
