Scarce biography of this fine French artist, very little known in the US, with many paintings reproduced in color or b&w. French text. 1st, #352/1000 (1/1000 in the trade edition). 4to, blue cloth stamped vivid orange, vg- (cocked, corners bumped) in good-only dj with the edges quite tattered and heavily chipped. INSCRIBED (in French) by Souza Desnoyer on the half-title. 359 pp. Also including a pamphlet from an exhibition at Marlborough Fine Art Ltd. in London, 'Francois Desnoyer: Paintings and Drawings', dated October 1955 (English text). It has 8 paintings reproduced in b&w and is INSCRIBED by the artist, Francois (in French) on the half-title.

Publishers blue cloth with decoration and lettering in white to both boards and spine. Small dent to the bottom of the rear board. Some minor foxing to the fore edges but this is a lovely clean and unread copy, with some page gatherings still unopened. In the rare original fawn paper dustwrapper which reproduces the designs and lettering on the book in red. Publishers adverts on the Inner flaps. Some darkening to the spine and chipping to the edges but overall a very good example and rare thus.

Hardcover bound in quarter tan cloth with grey paper-covered boards and the remains of the original grey dust jacket. Light to moderate wear to the binding. The boards show some browning and foxing, likely from the remains of the dust jacket. The front and rear panels and turn-ins of the jacket remain. The front panel of the jacket has a couple of glass rings as well as a 3 1/2inch tear on the fore edge near the bottom corner. This tear has some old and failed tape repairs and a large accompanying crease. There is also a paper label on the front panel of the jacket from the Medici Society noting this Cloth binding version originally cost 2 Pounds, 12 Shillings, 6 d.
