About This Item

Samuel French, New York., 1947. First edition, the much scarcer cloth issue. Octavo. pp [iv], 114. Photographs. The cast of the first production, in 1945, of this obscure play included a young Montgomery Clift. Windham provided a note on his collaboration with Williams in the programme: "Our shared laughter was perhaps the strongest bond between us. To the often-asked question, 'How did you and Tennessee collaborate?' I can best answer that we did it by departing as little as possible from our nonworking pleasure in each other's company, in each other's sense of humor, improvising dialogue, viva voce, in that small room, laughing at our inventions, taking turns typing on my portable typewriter, and going down to the pool to swim."Slight bruise at head of spine, otherwise fine in very good, price-clipped dustwrapper a little darkened at spine and rubbed at edges.
