Boston: Published by Peirce and Parker, No. 9 Cornhill, 1832. First (SD) edition. Original cloth backed blue paper covered boards, paper printed spine title. 8vo. pp. [4] blank, 323, [5] blank. Good. Edgeworn boards, spine split and shaken, about a dozen pages with foxed stains. Quill gift inscription from J. R. Adams, Feb. 1833. Can be rebacked or rebound, but very few firsts with the original binding have survived. Treatise to the young (intended for ages 15-25) as 12 Chapters of instruction and encouragement in the Christian life. Confession, the Friend, Prayer, Consequences of neglecting duty, Almost a Christian, Difficulties in religion, Evidences of Christianity, Study of the Bible, The Sabbath, Trial and Discipline, Personal Improvement, Conclusion. The American Tract Society, New York published a 390 page copy with a double engraved frontis by Morton later in 1832. The firm Peirce and Parker was at 9 Cornhill (now Washington Street) until 1838-9 when William moved the business to Andover..
