[Cairo: Dar El-Hana Press, n.d. ca 1960-61]. Pamphlet. Exceedingly scarce and quite fiery pamphlet calling for a complete revision of the Rhodesian constitution, with input from native Africans, to overturn the decades-long system of apartheid under the rule of white settlers. "It is shere [sic] fantasy to assume that we shall tolerate to remain in our present plight to placate the stupid resistance of a fanatic selfish and racialistic minority as the white settlers" [from text].

Nkomo (1917-1999) founded the Rhodesian National Democratic Party in 1960; the party was swiftly banned by the Rhodesian government, and Nkomo declared an outlaw. In 1962, in partnership with Robert Mugabe, the NDP was reconstituted as the Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (ZAPU). This pamphlet dates from the brief interval of the NDP's existence; that it was printed in Cairo suggests that it was distributed clandestinely by NDP rebels. A foundational work of the Zimbabwean independence movement, and truly scarce: not seen in commerce; OCLC and COPAC note only a single location (University of London). Octavo. Staple-bound self-wrappers; 8pp. Portrait on cover. Mild external wear, still a sound, Very Good example.
