Great read for a kid, adult, or anyone who hasn't lost their sense of mystery and adventure. What if? What if time travel were as easy as L'Engle proposes? I still look for Mrs. Whatsit to point me in the right direction.

I received this book as a gift from a family member when I was a young teen. Dubious about how much I'd enjoy it, I put it aside for a while until a terrible, rainy February day when I was all in a snit about the weather and thinking that spring would never come. The first lines of the book snared me and reeled me in for the long haul, "The great grey beast February had eaten Harvey Swick alive. Here he was, buried in the belly of that smothering month, wondering if he would ever find his way out through the cold coils that lay between here and Easter."This fable goes into some interesting territory, and I'd encourage it for just about anyone to enjoy when they think that there is no end to the shortest month of the year.

Should you be a romantic soul, should you weep at beautiful music, should you enjoy deep draughts of wine, you will appreciate the world of Terre D'Ange.Phedre is a bit of a "Mary Sue," but it's easy to forgive her and roll with the lush and vivid tale of her early life and the many steps that make her an unlikely heroine. There is plenty of political intrigue as well as rather dark, sexy scenes - what else, when the main character is a courtesan who feels pleasure in pain?"It's funny, how one can look back on a sorrow one thought one might well die of at the time, and know that one had not yet reckoned the tenth part of true grief."
