•Commentary on Tibullus by Bernardinus Cyllenius Veronensis dedicated to Baptista de Ursinis, on Catullus by Antonius Parthenius dedicated to Julius Pomponius Laetus, and on Propertius by Philippus Beroaldus dedicated to Minus Roscius.

BACKGROUND:

•Albius Tibullus (c. 55 BC – 19 BC) was a Latin poet and writer of elegies. His first and second books of poetry are extant; many other texts attributed to him are of questionable origins.His status was probably that of a Roman knight (so the Life affirms), and he had inherited a considerable estate. Like Virgil, Horace and Propertius, he seems to have lost most of it in 41 BC in the confiscations of Mark Antony and Octavian.

•Gaius Valerius Catullus (c. 84 – 54? BC) was a Latin poet of the late Roman Republic who wrote chiefly in the neoteric style of poetry, which is about personal life rather than classical heroes. His surviving works are still read widely and continue to influence poetry and other forms of art.
•Catullus's poems were widely appreciated by other poets. He greatly influenced Ovid, Horace, Virgil, and others. After his rediscovery in the Late Middle Ages, Catullus again found admirers. The explicit sexual imagery which he uses in some of his poems has shocked many readers.
•Sextus Propertius was a Latin elegiac poet of the Augustan age. He was born around 50–45 BC in Assisium and died shortly after 15 BC. Propertius' surviving work comprises four books of Elegies (Elegiae). He was a friend of the poets Gallus and Virgil and, with them, had as his patron Maecenas and, through Maecenas, the emperor Augustus. Although Propertius was not as renowned in his own time as other Latin elegists, he is today regarded by scholars as a major poet.

CONDITION:

Wear to/near edges, worn/bumped corners, re-backed, darkening to boards, note to first end page states lacks final blank, but there is a blank there, starts on title page after end page, so would be initial blank, tape repairs to title page (A1), some early ink marginal notes to a few pages, browning to pages,

•Closed somewhat circular tear/hole about an inch or two to B1, is stuck on preceding page, affects a few letters to the two preceding pages, smaller/similar loss to F3, Similar loss to G1 as B1, (few pieces loosely inserted) couple small holes to G 5/6, small paper repair to upper page of G 8 missing a few letters to first three lines, few tape repairs to two other pages, few small slices at edges, for age most pages are good, needs to be aired out a bit, hinges/text block are very good!
