Description:
New York: The Viking Press, 1964. Soft cover. Very Good. 12mo (tall). Digested from the teachings of Konstantin S. Stanislavski. Third printing. xiv, [1], 78 p.p. With bibliography. Illustrated paperback. Covers worn at extremities, sticker ghost to front at head, wear and a few stains to rear, spine and edges of rear cover sunned. Some damp staining to the edges of the text block and some pages of the interior, but text is not obscured. Offsetting to p.p. 60-61. Stanislavski pioneered the use of theatre studios as a laboratory in which to innovate actor training and to experiment with new forms of theatre. Stanislavski organised his techniques into a coherent, systematic methodology, which built on three major strands of influence: (1) the director-centred, unified aesthetic and disciplined, ensemble approach of the Meiningen company; (2) the actor-centred realism of the Maly; and (3) the Naturalistic staging of Antoine and the independent theatre movement.
