Full tan morocco, title in gilt on spines, raised bands with decorative gilt embellishments. All edges gilt. Decorative gilt turn-ins and board edges. Blue silk bookmarks sewn in. Bound by Ed Howell of Liverpool, with bookseller's label on front pastedown endpaper. Solid text blocks, with light rubbing to edges and spines. Some loss of gilt to spines. Frontispiece portrait with tissue cover and two fold-out plates in Volume I. Volume II features Milton's famous work Paradise Lost. A beautiful example, complete in eight volumes.
