First Ed thus, unstated. Trade Paperback. Jimenez is the Spanish Poet who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1956. Though he was chiefly a poet, this book of lyrical prose is his most famous book. It relates the adventures of the poet and his donkey, Platero, and the things the poet says to the donkey, as they wander through Andalusia. It is a beautiful evocation of the Spanish countryside and way of life. The first English translation is said to be very faithful; in this new translation, Antonio T. de Nicolas has sought to preserve both the sense and the feeling and grace of the Spanish
