About This Item

Cold Spring, NY Nightingale Resources, 1995. Hardcover First Edition [1995]; First Printing indicated. First Edition [1995]; First Printing indicated. Very Near Fine: It appears that there may be some sunning to the outside edge of the front panel and to the top of the front hinge, though this may be part of the intended pattern. The binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Virtually 'As New'. . NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Oblong 8vo. Illustrated by Vitaliy Veksler. Hardback: Pictorial Laminate Boards. A beautiful full-color book illustrated in the rich style of Russian carpet-page design, yet using a palette of fresh natural colors to tell the playful fable of a wingless bird and her companions in the garden of God-cats and dogs, elephants and rhinos- who learn how to work together to keep their agreement with God and their world beautiful, while Tzipi, who spurs them on, is rewarded with her wings. How Tzipi the Bird Got Her Wings, by Bernard M. Zlotowitz and Dina Maiben, is a sweet, little story with a big message. The illustrations by Vitaliy Veksler are lovely watercolors. God granted the animals a beautiful garden in which to live. However, the animals did not keep it neat and clean, and the garden began to ruin. Tzipi, a little bird with little wing power but with a big heart, manages to leave her tree and begins to clean the garden. The other animals help her along the way. Great accomplishments ensue when everyone shares in the effort. This story will delight both young and old. It teaches an important lesson to children. Through effort, hard work, and cooperation a difficult task can be accomplished and rewards can ensue. I highly recommend this book to parents of young children, educators, and others who work with young children. It is quite inspirational.
