A beautiful creation by painter, tapestry artist and wood engraver Margaret Sunday who edited, designed and illustrated the book. (Ms. Sunday illustrated the 1990 publication "Manhattan: An Elegy, and Other Poems" by Amy Clampitt.) Text originates in The Holy Bible, Revised Standard Version. Printed on Sakamoto cream colored paper from handset Gill Sans monotype with Helvetica figures. Front page edges deckled. Illustrations and ornamentations are printed from endgrain blocks cut with burins using white, peach and pale oranges, pale green, light and dark gray pigments to form delicate abstracts. Hand bound by Caroline Gilderson-Duwe in stiff wrap covered with Sakamoto, three tiny decorative motifs printed on front. Binding credit is printed on a paper slip laid into book. The book is enclosed in a threefold portfolio covered in silk cloth of light gray-blue with pale peach mottle. Light toning to cloth along edges, all else Fine. 7-1/2 x 12"; 48 text pages.
