Very little wear except head of spine is just starting to fray. Tight binding with square spine - at least textblock is internally tight - on close inspection some pages at prelims are taped to reinforce hinges. Pages generally clean; one page has 4" tear archivally mended. Overall would be a solid vg except for those hinges and library marks - large DISCARD stamp on ffep and half-title page, marker strokes on eps signifying discard, tapemarks on map eps and boards. Dust jacket has price clip, light rubbing/wear to extremities - bright and attractive. Landmark books remain, after five decades, the standard of excellence against which history writing for children is judged. Jesus's biography written by a Protestant clergyman. Fosdick's attempts to explain all shades of Christian belief from literal to rationalistic could confuse a child receiving Evangelical or Catholic religious education but would probably ideally suit children from a less structured religious background and certainly be an excellent introduction to Christian beliefs about Jesus for children from other faiths, aged 10 and up.
