Book VG with some wear to edges, two small dimples in spine, mild soil, binding tight, text clean and unmarked. No DJ, but in protective mylar wrap.

Small dent on top edge of back cover. Owners' signatures on front endpaper; one is dated 1913. Gutters of endpapers starting to split, but the hinges themselves are secure. Text unmarked.

Green ribbed cloth binding with gilt decorative "TH" on the front cover; titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; vii, 413 pages; followed by a 2-page map of Hardy's fictional "Wessex;" then two pages of publisher's adverts for Hardy's works. Frontis illustration of The Castle of Mai-Dun; top-edge is gilt. Corners are bumped and there is wear to the margins of the spine (resulting in a chip to the crown). A sound copy, despite theses defects.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good (Minus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
