A broken front hinge but the balance remains tightly bound. Of particular interest is the 10 page section that offers methods of cooking "by which all the nutrients are conserved" and recipes. The methods and first few pages are written in the narrative and offer mostly simple ideas of cutting, cooking, dressing and seasoning; Complete recipes include Potato Chowder, Peanut Potato soup, cakes, new potatoes in cream, lentil and potato loaf etc., etc. The American Library Booklist of 1912 offers this review, "A compilation of information from every available source from the stand point of the practical grower.
