About This Item

New York: Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 2001. First printing. Hardcover. Good/very good. Tan and red hardcover, 1st edition in dustjacket. Signed without inscription by the author on the titl page. A good copy with heavy bending at the spine tips and corners, with the paper tearing at the tips. Previous owner's name stamp to the top and bottom text block edges, otherwise an unmarked copy. Solid binding, lacking in tightness. Unclipped dustjacket with minor bumping at the corners, and general wear at the panel edges - still bright and attractive. 274 pp., a young adult novel of school elections, name calling and friendship in the 7th grade. From the much-adored author of Bunnicula and the Pinky and Rex series.

Synopsis

“Sticks and stones may break our bones, but names will break our spirits.” Addie, Skeezie, Joe, and Bobby don't fit in at their school, and are tired of being called horrible names. Every middle school has it's own crew of Misfits, and in this tale, these kids create a new political party for the student council elections called the No-Name party to encourage people to stop being cruel to those who are different.

This is a horrible book. It was badly written. I am not saying I don't think name calling is bad, but that is the only concept in the book.
