About This Item
Scientific American, 1984. Hardcover. Very Good/very good. Unmarked. Unclipped dust jacket. Includes the original, uncut Stereopticon 707 taylor-merchant Stereo Picture Viewer, which aids the eyes in seeing images in 3D. This book provides a tour of the mysteries of visual perception as known toward the end of the twentieth century. The author examines the intrigues of both correct and illusory perception, the cues that enable us to construct a three-dimensional world, the nature of our perception of works of art and our perception of motion. Rock's work showed that perceptual phenomena could be explained by higher-level mental processes instead of merely by automatic processes.
