4 cnrs VERY slightly worn; head & tail of spine somewhat frittered but restored. All pages uniformly and somewhat tanned. Titles on spine and front are bright but the gilt snake's head is re-worked. Fold-out col illustration of snakes is complete but, as a preventative measure, the folds have been strengthened on verso with non-staining "Magic "tape; one older tear, 58mm, has been repaired with " Sello " tape which has stained. 2 pages internally were torn in the margins by careless opening and have been closed. xvi plus 550 pp plus 1 page advert for Snakebite Outfit. Includes Addenda; (additional) b&w photog plates - "Figs A to Z"; Index, Index to Addenda and Index to illustrations in text, of which there are 171 b&w photos. They are scuffed and a little marked from shelving and use. They are sound and sure. The spine has wear to head and foot. The titling has been rubbed away. A press cutting has been affixed to the front pastedown. The papertrims have sparse storage marks. The early pages have some storage wear about the edges, some foxing. The frontispiece has been repaired along its length. The contents pages have some very tidy underlining in pencil.
