Farrar & Rinehart, 1939-01-01. Hardcover. Good. First edition, 1939, with the F|R colophon. This clean, solid, straight hardcover book has clean though tanned text pages, firm hinges, pictorial end pages, and a fairly good dust jacket. A map of the Sacramento is the book's frontispiece, and there are six double-page detailed illustrations in the book by John O'Hara Cosgrave. Corners of the red binding are lightly bumped. Nameplate of the previous owner is inside the front cover. The pictorial DJ is intact, but rubbed and soiled at the edges. The writing is lively, interesting, and poignant when telling about history: the author actually met the famous Yahi Indian, called Ishi, the last of his people in California.
