Dune Messiah

Frank Herbert

  • Edition: 1st Edition
  • Book condition: Near Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
New York: G P Putnam's Sons, 1969 A near fine copy of the 1st edition of Dune Messiah in near fine wrapper, with signed inscription by Frank Herbert. The jacket has slight edge nibbles at flap corners and at the top and bottom of the spine. It is in a removable protective wrap. It has 6910 at the bottom of the front flap, and a price of 4.95 dollars at the top of the flap. The cloth binding with black lettering is in near fine clean condition with just slight wear at the spine top and corners. Contents are in near fine clean condition. There is a small brown mark in the middle of p62, just visible through onto p61. Frank Herbert has signed the first half title page 'For the Unicorn 5/7/70 Frank Herbert'. A very nice copy with an interesting inscription, particularly given that this was well before Herbert became a full-time author, and so perhaps knew the recipient reasonably well?

Dune

Herbert, Frank

Chilton Book Company, 1965-01-01. Hardcover . LikeNew/Fine. Full red cloth boards, DJ price $10.95, ISBN printed below DJ price and on rear cover; number line reads "8 9 0 4 3 2 1 0"; in my own hand is "[1972]" written in pencil to the front endpaper, which would indicate that at some point I thought I was smart enough to figure out that was the printing date. Signed & lined on title page, inscribed "To Kirk". This came with a few items signed by SF artist Tim Kirk, but I have no way of knowing if a)., he goes by Kirk and b)., it is inscribed to him. Very minor rubbing to white map at rear panel, very light shelfwear. Main flaw is a few spots of foxing to top foredge. Near fine to fine overall. Herbert's signature on our website page of signatures is taken from this book, and matches all previous signatures we have handled.
