New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1970. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 9x6x1. First edition. Quite musty, boards soiled, otherwise a decent copy. Jacket flaps creased, writing indentations on front jacket panel, sticker on rear jacket panel. 1970 Hard Cover. xxxvi, 952 pp. A rather self-congratulatory memoir by the famous urban planner of his time in public works. Moses was the subject of Robert Caro's Pulitzer Prize winning biography The Power Broker. From the jacket: "Robert Moses has dazzled the public for the last half a century. Fiercely dedicated and almost Napoleonic in his energies, he has transformed the face of this country as perhaps no other public servant has ever done. He has been the moving force behind thousands of parks and playgrounds, highways and parkways, beaches and outdoor recreation facilities in New York City and New York State. He has also served as a consultant to many major cities ranging from Canton, Ohio, to Caracas, Venezuela. In this engrossing… Read More

Description:
New York: McGraw-Hill, 1970. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine. Octavo, 952pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's navy leather, stamped in gilt with red leather spine label. Very gentle foxing to edges, and a touch of rubbing to extremities, but a nice example. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Moses on the half-title page: "To Betty and Vince from Bob Moses." There are a few faint foxing marks to the signature page. This is one of an unidentified (but certainly small) number of presentation copies specially bound by the publisher for Moses to give to friends and colleagues. An uncommon memoir, which contains great swaths of reproduced correspondence between Moses and other officials relating to the various public works projects in which he was involved. Moses was perhaps the most influential civil servant in history who never sought wider political office. His complex legacy was explored in Robert Caro's unparalleled biography, "The Power Broker," which was published… Read More
