Description:
Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill Company, Publishers, [1931]., 1931. First edition. First edition. Author's first book. Former owner's name stamp and address on front pastedown sheet, else a near fine bright copy in dust jacket with small chips to the spine ends, rubbed along spine panel and front flap fold, with tiny nicks and chips to the extremities. Dale Sanborn has made a lot of enemies in his career as a muckraking author, philanderer and occasional blackmailer. When he vacations at a cabin in Cape Cod, any of his many visitors... an old girlfriend, his fiancee, an outraged husband, a long-lost brother, etc. ... could have killed him, and all of them wanted to. Asey Mayo investigates.

Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, Publishers, 1931. First Edition. Very Good+. First edition. 320 pp. Publisher's blue cloth with green lettering on front board, yellow on spine. Very Good+, lightly rubbed along edges, subtle lean; lacking dust jacket, clad in facsimile. Signed by the author on the illustrated front free endpaper, neatly inscribed, "This is the first book I ever autographed - by request - but I hope at least it's legible [signed] Phoebe Atwood Taylor." Apparently this copy is the very first book of her own the Boston author ever signed. A unique copy of her first novel, a comic mystery which debuted Asey Mayo.
