London: Faber and Faber Ltd, (1950). First edition, with the misprint on p. 29, l. 1, corrected. 8vo. 167, [5] pp. Publisher's green cloth; slight lean, pp. 11-14 roughly opened at top edge, in near fine, unclipped dust-jacket. In a custom morocco-backed slipcase and chemise Presentation copy of the first edition, inscribed by Eliot to author and artist Wyndham Lewis ("Wyndham Lewis, from T.S. Eliot"), with marks and annotations by Lewis on 45 pages of the text. Eliot was introduced to Lewis by Ezra Pound in 1915, and Lewis published some of Eliot’s early poetry in the second and final issue of Blast (July 1915). Lewis was a man of strongly held views who often enjoyed highly volatile friendships. He came to resent what he perceived as Eliot’s arrogance, ascribing the latter’s success to the advocacy of Pound. However Eliot remained a loyal supporter of Lewis and after his death declared him "one of the few men of letters in my generation whom I should call, without qualification, men of genius "… Read More

Description:
The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber, London in 1939. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Publisher's original yellow boards with the spine lettered in red and the front with a vignette illustration in red. The boards remain clean with a hint of toning to the edges. Internally, a contemporary gift inscription to the upper front blank end-paper. Very light offsetting to the front blank end-paper with one tiny mark to the lower rear blank end-paper. A few of the pages have been roughly uncut resulting in a small closed tear to the fore-edge of pages 25 and 31, and some irregularity to the upper half of the fore-edge of pages 13 and 15. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. A slither of loss at the spine ends with some toning to the spine, folds and edges and some light age related markings. The wrapper artwork (by the author) remains very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been signed (without dedication) by the author to the title page.… Read More

Description:
New York. Boni and Liveright. 1922 Gilt titled black cloth over flexible boards. 8vo. First Edition,First state with "Mountain" correctly spelled on page 41. Universally recognized as the single most important poetical work of the 20th Century, the first edition of the Wastland was limited to a printing of 1,000 numbered copies, 500 of which were in the "first state" or first run of the press. This copy is a "bastard" or un-numbered copy. There are few titles of modern literature which surpass the magnitude of collectibility and historical significance of this masterwork. A very rare copy. Cover is the slightest bit dusty, minor offset to prelims, chipping to several page edges due to poor cutting (not affecting text), Spine cracked but firm.

Description:
Faber and Faber, London., 1936. First edition. Octavo. 191 pages.Inscribed by the author on the title-page: ''Inscribed for Christopher Fry in affection and esteem - T.S. Eliot''. The recipient's ownership signature, dated 1936, is on the front free endpaper. A highly significant association copy, bringing together the two greatest English language verse dramatists of the century. It is presumably the case that the book was inscribed several years after it was first acquired by Fry, as the latter once told the theatre critic Michael Billington, 'I first met Eliot in 1939, and I remember asking him what I could do in wartime that didn't mean shooting people. He suggested the fire service, but I told him that I had no head for heights. Eliot said, ''You must specialise in basements.'' ' From the condition of the book it must be assumed that it was consulted by Fry on numerous occasions: damage to backstrip repaired; covers marked and rubbed; good; no… Read More

Description:
New York and London: The Fountain Press and Faber & Faber, 1930. Cloth. Very Good +/Very Good -. The 1930 signed/limited and stated 1st edition. #87 OF 600 NUMBERED COPIES SIGNED BY T.S. ELIOT at the limitation. FURTHERMORE, THIS COPY INCLUDES THE PUBLISHER'S SCARCE GLASSINE DUSTJACKET, WITH ITS UNPRINTED PAPER FLAPS. A solid, VG+ copy of the book, with bright blue boards and gilt-titling. A touch of mild discoloration at the front panel's top-edge, offsetting to the endpapers. Top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. The fragile dustjacket, which has protected the book very nicely, shows chipping and a degree of creasing along the panel edges, and is missing the lower 1"-2" along the rear panel's bottom-edge. Because of this loss, we would conservatively grade the jacket a VG-, even though it's clean and bright and has attracted no soiling. A crisp, very presentable copy, especially scarce as such, in the uncommon dustjacket.
