They had 2 children: Mary (born 1758); Richard (born 1769) .

He married Eliza Charlotte Albinia Sulivan, daughter of George James Sulivan and Mary Plomley Jenkins, on 30 July 1850 at St. Georges Hanover Square, Westminster, London, England. He died on 24 February 1886 at Kentwell Hall, Long Melford, Suffolk, England. Edward Bence, who had inherited some �130,000 from Elizabeth Starkie, a cousin, upon condition he added Starkie to his name. This was but little imposition given that his father had changed his name from Sparrow to Bence for much the same reason. Letter regarding a complaint from his daugter Charlotte regarding an insult from a worker decorating a room. ** "Edward Venn was a tea broker (in April 1807 Harris appraised the desks in the Counting House in Bow Lane). He obviously lived in some style. His carpets were made to order to fit the rooms: 'To an Orange Ground (Leopard Spot) Kidderminster Carpet (Plann'd to Room)...' The composition of the curtains, bed furnishings, blinds, etc., is described in detail. For example: 'To Makg. 3 Sett Rod Window Curtains with French twisted Draperies lined wth. yellow Callico turnd over & Fringed'.
