This boxed set with elaborately decorated applied water color hand finished paper label is for Austrian-German opera star Marra Vollmer depicted at the center of the label. The content includes a 7.5" die-cut card stock paper doll with eight (8) elaborate costumes and headdresses. The costumes depict her various roles with an applied label on reverse with the name of the character and the role. Includes Martha, Norma, Marie, Amine, Rosine, Elvira, Rosel and Angela. Box measures 9.5" by 7" (1822-1878) The singer's birth name was (depending on the spelling) Maria or Marie , Baroness von Hack (also: von Hacke/Haake ). Around 1842 she chose the Italian-sounding stage name Marie von Marra , since her parents did not approve of her profession. A double sided paper doll with chemise and curved right arm with six (6) exquisite double-sided gowns, six (6) double-sided collars or shoulder wraps, and 11 double-sided bonnets with elaborate arrangements of hair. Hand colored with fine detailing and high fashion of the day. Reminiscent of Elssler or Taglioni. Housed in a 6.8" by 12" box with applied litho of elegant ladies watching a handmaid display fashions for a doll. Costumes and doll excellent condition. Edge wear on box.

62 pp.A rare and wonderful Dutch early nineteenth-century childrenÂ’s book, complete with the moveable dolls of itÂ’s protagonist Louize. The book comes with the paper doll model of Louize, printed on cardstock plate with slits above the left shoulder and below her feet, into which tabs on six outfits printed on cardstock plates can be placed. Both the paper doll and her outfits are beautifully hand-coloured. The dollÂ’s costume follow and augment the storyline of the book. Louize who grows up in a wealthy family of traders in Amsterdam enjoys nothing more than dressing up. We first encounter her in her ball gown with her friends and family in presence to admire the young girl. A nonsense book written by a big child for little ones, containing pictures in imitation of dolls and animals cut out of paper for the amusement of children, with verses" (The Argonaut, November 23, 1896). Little is known of the author, who was active between 1896 and 1911. Genuinely scarce, the Cotsen Collection at Princeton lacks a physical copy, with only an imperfect digital scan in their holdings. Oblong octavo. Original printed yellow paper-covered boards. Period ink gift inscription to the front flyleaf, with the recipient's name handwritten on the front panel of the dust jacket. Tiny split to the front joint, which is otherwise quite sound. A bit of wear to the corners and tips. The pictorial dust jacket is unevenly toned, with some minor edgewear; else very good.

1850. Light to moderate wear. Lacks one (1) costume and original box (although previous owner has fashioned a box and has facsimile of lacking costume).. A 9" die-cut a paper doll with eyes that move to and fro and "dancing" legs. She has five (5) costumes and headdresses. Each costume has an applied back with opening at the top to slip the doll into the costume. Her costumes are quite whimsical and each present her in a different light. Originally intended to be placed on a metronome and dance as the pendulum moves from side to side. The side to side motion also activates her eyes accordingly.

A lovely 4.5" paper doll depicting a fashionable young woman, housed in her original box with eleven (11) outfits and five (5) hats/hair pieces. There are two copies of the doll itself; both the doll and all of the outfits and hats are two-sided, and the outfits slip over her head like an apron. Includes day wear, evening wear, outerwear, and a charming white lace wedding dress. Each piece is lithographed and hand-colored in watercolor and gouache. Box measures approx. "6.75" by 4.25" by 0.75", and features a hand-colored lithograph of two stylish young ladies in a parlor with a young girl. The aprons are covered in brightly colored embossed decorated papers, and the title of the doll appears in English, French and German. An elegantly designed 6 1/8" handmade watercolor paper doll in the style of Marie Antoinette and her eight (8) elaborately detailed costumes, six (6) with accompanying hats. Predominantly court dresses; one is "playing a guitar". Reverse is blank. "Marie Antoinette paper dolls - Costumes copied from portraits and paintings" penned on envelope the paper doll was found in.

The 1st 3 volumes in this wonderful 1928 "Toyland" series, which consists all told of 3 separate sets of 3 books (making up 9 separate books in the series). This 1st set (representing the 1st 3 titles in the series) consists of "The Unhappy Paper Doll", "The Policeman Cat" and "The Dollville Railroad". All 3 books are in very sharp condition and each is clean and Near Fine to Fine in crisp, VG+ to Near Fine dustjackets. Very light staining at The Dollville Railroad's rear jacket panel and one very small closed tear to The Unhappy Paper Doll's front jacket panel, otherwise all 3 books are clean as could be and present remarkably well. Uniform 64mos (miniatures), lovely color illustrations thruout by Joseph C. Claghorn. The set of 3 also includes the very uncommon original pictorial box, which shows light wear and creasing along the edges but undoubtedly accounts for the superb condition of the 3 books it houses.

1910. Light edge wear from handling.. Childhood Architecture, Paper Playthings, Paper Dolls, Pretend Play, Made by Hand Executed in watercolor, pen and ink with pencil narrative and instructions. Each room includes an exterior wall with windows appropriately adorned, furnishing to construct and in three instances the paper doll occupants, including costumes for "sister" who is in the sitting room with her friend. The instructions are comprehensive and the designs intricate. The nursery includes the nurse with baby and one costume. Furnishings include a cradle, carriage changing table and dresser. The Dining-Room, again in the Arts & Craft style includes a table and chairs and sideboard with tea service for placement on the table. The maid is sweeping. The bedroom includes a bed, dresser and chairs with accessories including stand of pictures of mother and father and flowers for the dressing table. Each sheet measure 16 1/2" x 11

New York: Artcraft, 1968. Vintage paper doll activity book based on the landmark 1968-1971 television series, which ran for three seasons on NBC. OCLC locates one copy. A groundbreaking series, the first weekly television show to star an African American woman in a non-stereotypical role. The series starred actress and singer Diahann Carroll as Julia Baker, a widowed single mother who worked as a nurse at a large aerospace company. The book features doll iterations of Julia, her young son Corey, his white best friend Earl, and Earl's mother Marie, as well as over 30 punch-out costumes. Fine and unused in pictorial wrappers.

Germany, 1850. 1 hat and box lacking. Else fine.. A 7 1/4" litho on heavy stock paper doll with his original stand and eight (8) costumes and seven (7) hats. The costumes and dolls are colored lithograph with eggwash enhancements. His costumes reflect the affluent lifestyle and times of the young boy of the day. They include costumes for the garden, relaxing on the grounds, playing the flute, ice skating, drawing and hiking. There are also costumes for a warrior (complete with armor) and a soldier. Costumes have a blank sheet affixed to the reverse with an opening at top to allow the costume to slip over the doll. The box is lacking.

USA, 1860s. Well executed. Some water stain at base. Glue toning on lace. . Two (2) different hand created paper doll house rooms. Constructed of wallpaper and borders, cut-outs from Godey's or Peterson's ladies magazines, lace trim and embossed die-cut Victorian gilt scrap. One room depicts a bride adorned in a lace veil and gown with silk flower appliqué. An anteroom with two brides maids and a flower girl who holds a silk bouquet. A portrait of a young girl adorns the wall. Measures 12" by 16: The second room includes three (3) elegant women in a parlor. Accompanied by a greyhound dog. The window is adorned with lace curtains with a water scene in the background. A framed portrait adorns the wall. Measures 16" by 12". Both rooms "papered" with wallpaper; one with boarder trim. Both affixed to cardstock. An early version of paper doll playhouse pages incorporating wallpaper, magazine cut-outs, lace and Victorian scraps.

2011. The type of ink used in this sets caused some of the pages to adhere to one another, but are easily separated without and damage inflicted. Otherwise fine.. This collection of 28 paper dolls by the Jones Sisters, a pair of women, named Barbara Plummer and Barbara Barnett, who designed paper dolls. The majority of the collection are limited edition runs that were sold at the yearly Paper Doll Convention. The collection date from 1987-2011, with the bulk of them dating from the late 1980s. What is unique about these paper dolls are the outfits, as the majority of them are constructed from wall paper. The wall paper is used as 'fabric patterns' to form the base of the design, and are flushed out with ink and color markers. This is one in a series of four "One Room" kits (the other rooms shown on the envelope are a dining room, bedroom, and kitchen). . Buff paper envelope printed in color with an illustration advertising the four possible "One Room" model home scenes. . All richly printed in color. The larger leaf is a rug and the two smaller leaves are printed with furniture pieces to be cut out and assembled into a living room scene. The rug and some of the furniture items are designed in a pseudo-"oriental" style. Wear and toning to edges of envelope, creases fragile. The leaves within are clean and bright. A very good copy of a rare and fragile item. Activity kits like the present item were popular educational tools because they inspired children's creativity and helped them practice fine motor skills and techniques that transferred to art lessons (like cutting with scissors and folding paper). J. Ottmann Litho. Co. New York. No date. Circa 1907. Die-cut Chromolithographic Bear and clothing in original printed envelope. (Bear is 10.5 inches tall, envelope is 11.5 x 8.5 inches). The Bear has a (recently replaced) plain card back stand to keep him upright and the 5 outfits have tabs so can be laid onto the body. The hats have small slits and sit on the head, in between the ears. Each outfit comes with a hat but the Driver's cap is missing. The outfits are; a Dress Suit with vests, tie, pocket square and top hat; a Nautical Suit of blue blazer with gold buttons, stripes, anchors, and white trousers with a cap featuring an eagle; a Baseball Uniform for the NL, National League, with a striped cap; a yellow Bathrobe trimmed in red, striped socks, and a red sleeping cap; and a Driver's Coat with brass buttons, belt, and grey gloves (the cap is missing from this outfit). A single paper doll set with the same character and costumes as included in "Famous Queens and Martha Washington" a larger boxed set. Illustrated by Elizabeth S. Tucker. It includes Queen Victoria and three period costumes. The doll is wearing a white petticoat covered with a white peignoir tied with a blue bow. the costumes include a walking gown, court robe,and reception robe. Additionally the set includes a booklet with a brief introduction to the doll and instructions on use and play. and the original box top with an applied litho of the queen. Doll 7" tall and booklet and box lid approx. 10" x 8".
