In original dust jacket that has minor chips to top edge now in mylar cover. Text looks never read and is clean and bright with very minor tanning due to age. This book has been classified as culturally significant. Scarce if not rare in this condition Robert Ranulph Marett was born on the Channel Island of Jersey on June 13, 1866. He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford, specializing in the classics, philosophy, and ethics, and in 1891 he was elected fellow of Exeter College, Oxford, where he remained for the whole of his academic career.He traveled widely in Europe, visited Australia once, in 1914, and in 1930 delivered the Lowell Lectures in Boston. There is a book plate inside front cover that says Chappel Woodhouse and there is an inscription in front from former owner. Woodhouse was Rev.
