San Francisco, Calif.: The Federation, 1940.. Convention program. One folded sheet measuring 8 x 18 inches when unfolded. Convention held July 11-13, 1940. Convention featured a symposium, "Art Education in the U.S."; "A Day of Fun"; and "The Rise of Arts in the West", a discussion of architects Richard Neutra and Edwin Stone, painters Kenneth Callahan and De Witt Parshall, et al. Includes list of speakers. Item in near fine condition with some water stains. Includes original envelope with 1940 metered postage, typewritten address, and some soiling.

Approx. 12 pieces. Publishers include Charles H. Kerr & Co., North-Holland Publishing Co., the National Bureau of Economic Research. From the archives of Carl Landauer, economist and scholar.

Folio folder from the Guildhall Bookshop, announcing the availability of the Mercer collection of letters, manuscripts, and other items relating to Irish novelist Amanda Ros. One sheet folded to make a 4-pp. booklet. 15 x 10 inches. Black type. Amanda Ros was known as the "best bad writer," enjoyed for the very awfulness of her over-the-top purple prose. Slightly age-toned, but still bright. Very Good plus.

Announcement for performances of Julie Hebert's "Died Suddenly", Kedric Robin Wolfe in "You Want to Know about Cocteau?" and Blue Palm in "Cocteau en Californie" which unfolds into a poster measuring 23 x 15 inches. Very good, suitable for framing.

Cummings, William Carlos Williams, Ogden Nash, W.H. Auden, Dylan Thomas, and Elizabeth Bishop. Card shows some handling wear, but overall Very good.

Card announcing that Moore will sign copies of her book laid in. In original unaddressed mailing envelope. Very Good.

Invitation is on second and third panels. Fourth panel blank. 5-5/16 x 4-1/2 inches. Also laid in is a small (4 x 2-1/2 inch) card announcing "Miss Graham has graciously consented to inscribe copies of Martha Graham: Portrait of the Lady as an Artist ordered before December 8th." Fine.

Typewritten on Funk & Wagnalls stationery. 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches. No year given, but Funk & Wagnalls brought out Cocteau's play in 1948. Letter is chipped and creased top and bottom, with a small hole at lower right. Has been folded once; there is an arrowhead-shaped piece missing from the right edge at the fold. OverallVery Good.
