Brown and Bigelow. Very Good. 1969. First Edition. Pictorial Wrappers. Clean and secure in spiral wire. The size is 7 ½ x 9 ½" which opens to double size with twelve month calendars at bottom and twelve illustrations at tops. Printed for "The Beach Shop" and "The Beach Market" in Sarasota, Florida. Twelve "American Beauties" created by Siesta Key Artist Gil Elvgren. The themed beauties include a cowgirl, Gillette Elvgren (1914 1980) was an American painter of pin-up girls, advertising and illustration. Best known for his pin-up paintings for Brown & Bigelow, Elvgren studied at the American Academy of Art. He was strongly influenced by the early "pretty girl" illustrators, such as Charles Dana Gibson, Andrew Loomis, and Howard Chandler Christy. Other influences included the Brandywine School founded by Howard Pyle. .

Very Good. 1880s. Cards. A wonderful large Christmas/New Year Victorian greeting in very nice condition -- no rips or tears, lovely. Three Embellished Chromolithograph Scenes (7" x 5") with Silk Fringe mounted on Padded Silk background (10.75" X 9" ) with stiff card backing and angle piece for standing upright on table/mantle. The three chromolithograph scenes are after landscape paintings by Albert Edward Bowers (active 1875 - 1893), known for his detailed paintings of the English countryside - cottages, cattle, farms, sheep and human figures in landscape. Two of the scenes are dos-a-dos with white silk fringe framing the cards; that pair are hinged at the top and flip up to reveal the third scene mounted on the patterned pink silk padded background which is itself framed at the outer edge by silk fringe. Contents near fine - clean and tight in contemporary binding of three-quarter dark brown morocco over pale green & cream marbled boards with marbled endpapers. Five raised bands at spine with gilt lettering and decorative gilt devices depicting foxhunting horns and whips. Leather chipped at head of spine; hinges secure, but leather cracking along edges of spine. A still attractive volume; requires careful handling.
